The SCORE Baja 1000 is only days away and we couldn’t be more excited! This year, we are honored to be working with Kurt Oakland, an accomplished dirtbike racer from Washington State. Kurt is poised to make a lasting impact by competing in the Pro Moto Class Ironman at the Baja 1000 race, with a focus on raising funds to help support a critical cause: Stop Soldier Suicide Stop Soldier Suicide | Give hope to our heroes.
With a laser-like focus on solving the complex issue of suicide among U.S. veterans and service members, Stop Soldier Suicide is a beacon of hope for those struggling. Their team of innovators leverages technology and data to pinpoint individuals at greater risk and deliver lifesaving support services, fueled by an unwavering commitment to ending military suicide.
Kurt is motivated by the outpouring of support from individuals who believe in his mission and are rooting for him as he prepares to face his next challenge. From Kurt: “Veteran suicide is the second leading cause of death among veterans, with an average of 17 lives lost each day. This is a sobering reality we cannot ignore.” Kurt also mentioned that contesting in this race isn’t about the record, but it is about using the Baja 1000 as a platform to amplify, and support Stop Soldier Suicide mission.
