Coco's Corner

Leaving San Luis Gonzaga at about 20 kilometers before Chapala, there is a small place whose visit is a must! This is Coco’s Corner, the checkpoint (PIT) for the Baja 500 and Baja 1000 off road races, where the extravagant owner has been selling some drinks, including beer, for more than 25 years.

From the ceiling hangs women underwear of all sizes, as well as t-shirts, which the owner himself asks travelers to sign. Newspaper clippings, and photos fill the walls; outside there is “movie theater” with a broken tv and toilets instead of chairs, auto parts, cans hanging from a wooden frame and “sculptures” made by the artistic and iconic owner.
